Raising the Best Pekin Ducks


The Pekin duck was popularized by the Yuan Dynasty in ancient imperial China 4,000 years ago. The world-renowned duck dish from Beijing is now considered the national dish of China, prized for its serving of thin crisp skin and a little meat. Over time, the Pekin duck recipes evolved into many variations and combinations, depending on the place and the people eating them.

In modern times, the appeal of duck meat grew far and wide, transcending national boundaries and language barriers. Pekin duck recipes and
menus are always on high demand by both young and old folks alike, whether it be for special or simple meals.

Today, only certified duck growing genetic companies in avian influenza (Al)-free countries are allowed by national and international Al monitoring
agencies to export duck breeds worldwide. This is to limit movement, spread, transfer, and further infection of the Al disease, thus protecting its introduction and infection into avian-flu-free places.

The Philippines is one of the bird-flu-free countries in South East Asia, thus ducks produced in the country are allowed entry into the highly discriminating and stringently controlled Japanese market.
